Philip Salau Mpaayei, Senator for Kajiado County

A lady by the name Charlene Atieno Omollo has written to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai complaining about the negligence and failure to investigate a case in which she says she was assaulted by Kajiado County Senator Hon. Philip Salau Mpaayei.

Through her lawyer Chege Kibathi and Company Advocates, Ms Atieno says she reported the assault at the Ongata Rongai Police Station Occurrence Book (OB) number 12/09/30/2018 where she also filled a P3 form for the matter.

After waiting for long she realised that the case had not been investigated and decided to bring the matter to the attention of the IGP.

The letter dated 7th January 2020 is copied to Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and Federation of Women Lawyers of Kenya (FIDA).

Her attempts to have the alleged assault case prosecuted seemed to have fallen on deaf ears and according to a document seen by this site, she has the following 9 questions directed to the relevant authorities:

a) Is the Senator above the law so that he can commit a crime and walk scot free as if nothing happened?

b) Is our security system really defending all Kenyans in equal measure or is it just for the rich?

c) Are there people, like the Senator, who are above the law in Kenya?

d) Is the system compromised so that I will never get Justice?

e) Is it possible that even if I go to the Courts for Private Prosecution that the Senator will compromise the system so that I never get Justice?

f) Is it possible that Kenyans are suffering at the hands of people like the Senator who commit crime and no action is taken by the Police?

g) Is it possible that even bigger crimes like rape, murders and such crimes are also being committed against innocent Kenyans by people like the Senator and no action is taken by the Police?

h) Is Justice really available for poor Kenyans like me?

i) Is there really any law for poor people, especially women, in Kenya?

Cnyakundi.com believed that the law should protect all and sundry.

DCI, DPP, IPOA, Where is justice for Charlene Atieno Omollo?
