The man who jumped to his death at Adlife Plaza in Kilimani located near Yaya Centre is said to have lost Ksh15 million in a bet he had placed at TopStar Casino.
Richard Wangai, jumped from the top floor of Adlife Plaza located near Yaya Centre.
The 40-year-old man died on the spot.
According police sources at Kilimani Police Station, the man arrived at the building at 4pm and remained within the premises until 5pm when he killed himself
Police further revealed that the man was found with some tablets in his pocket.
His body was moved to City Mortuary as investigations into the matter continue.
Suicide cases
The increase in access to betting sites have also increased suicide cases as youths believe in the short cut to make money which most often ends up nowhere.
Suicide cases have been on the rise here in Kenya, according to WHO the number of suicides reported in Kenya rose by 58 per cent between 2008 and 2017 to reach 421.
The report also shows that more men are likely to commit suicide than women. Out of the 421 suicide cases in 2017, 330 involved men.
