Deputy President William Ruto (Left) and Economist David Ndii

Deputy President William Ruto is by now the subject or the face of corruption if you like it.

People have argued that he represents it because the Kenyattas are good in Public Relations and hiding behind the scenes.

They’ve found a scapegoat who can be painted all their bad things.

Boniface Mwangi, one of Ruto’s strongest opponents recently stated the same. Mr. Mwangi said, Ruto steals 20 per cent while the Kenyattas steal 80 per cent, but they are both equally dangerous.

Other notable public figures agree that Ruto is not that worse than the Kenyattas.

Christian ‘president’

DP Ruto’s christian faith is most times the subject of discussion. He has tried just like Daniel Moi in the 70s to woe regions through Harambees and courting perceived influential leaders.

He has done this through being too generous to churches especially in vote rich western Kenya. He likes to cut the image of a victim while campaigning.

The man who was the chairman of the Christian Union at the University of Nairobi (UoN) during his time continues to irk many with the insistence that is a born again Christian, yet his record of looting is in the public domain.

It is un-christian like to engage in what Ruto does, some have argued.

It is these mixed emotions that led one Twitter User to write the following:

‘Ruto speaks like he is not aware he is a thief. He has convinced himself he is not a land grabber when we know he is. He thinks he is a Christian when he is indited at the ICC for crimes against humanity. It would be more than tragic to have that person as president’.

Economist David Ndii responded immediately.

‘Mwenda wazimu hajuangi ni mwenda wazimu’.

Kenyans later join the fray sharing their opinions on the matter:

In Twitter war, context is key.
