Kshs.4m, LG Smart TV and LG Fridges Donations Exposes Impunity In SJA: Members Demand For Mbaisi Led Team’s Removal
Sports Journalists Association of Kenya – SJAK male members are up in arms as regards the emerging culture by top officials led by their President Chris Mbaisi of sneaking female reporters out of the country for international assignments and seminars while ignoring male members.
The disgruntled male members are accusing Mbaisi who has just returned from All Africa Games in Morocco where he was the Liaison Officer without even being endorsed by SJAK members of influencing and dictating selection of junior female reporters who are in turn used as sex pets by Mbaisi and his cliques who accompany the female members.
While using his position as SJAK President, Mbaisi bulldozed his way to ensure Idah Waringa of NTV travelled to Morocco to cover All Africa Games denying competent male Reporters at NTV and other media houses the opportunity to go and cover the games. This dangerous trend is being championed by KNSC Treasurer Charles Nyaberi whom Mbaisi “shares with” some of the female SJAK Members
According to very reliable multiple sources within SJAK Executive Committee, K24 Sports Correspondent Caren Kibett was to link up with Mbaisi and Wariga in Morocco in place of Citizen TV top notch Reporter Mukami Wambora who is the daughter of Embu Governor His Excellency Wambora. Mukami turned down the offer after realizing that Mbaisi was misusing young female SJAK members as sex pets and she did not want to ruin her colorful career and soil the name and image of her father and family members.
It has also come in the open that SJAK officials led by Mbaisi are using their positions to enrich themselves financially and materially with confirmed reports saying Mbaisi and fellow members of the Executive Committee each received LG Smart TV 36” and LG double door Refrigerators from LG while poor Reporters who are the majority in SJAK membership languish in poverty.
On the same breath SJAK Executive Committee is divided right in the middle after Mbaisi and the absentee Treasurer Evelyne Watta failed to account for KSh 4million which was given to the sports journalists’ body in preparing for LG/SJAK Awards Gala.
Members are now demanding that Mbaisi and Secretary General Mike Okinyi who was recently in Korea to cover martial arts championships must be investigated by EACC and DCI and they must convene a Special General Meeting with only one Agenda of DISCUSSING THE CONDUCT OF CURRENT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND PASSING A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN THE CORRUPTION RIDDEN OFFICE WHICH IS HEADED BY CHRIS MBAISI AS PRESIDENT, MIKE OKINYI AS SECRETARY GENERAL AND ABSENTEE TREASURER EVELYNE WATTA AS TREAUSRER.
WATTA HAS SINCE RELOCATED TO Spain after getting married to a top AIPS official whom she sweet talked to help Mbaisi get elected as AIPS Vice President for Africa and the two have been looting SJAK at will but members have come of age and said enough is enough and new office bearers must be elected to steer SJAK professionally.
Adding to the scandal which has tainted the image of SJAK which is supposed to be a professional sports body run professionally is the selection of Kameme TV Sports Reporter Mary Anne to go and cover IAAF World Championships in Qatar later this month.
Members who are toying with the idea of forming a rival body for sports journalists in the country accuse Mbaisi and his likeminded colleagues in the executive of turning SJAK into a cash and globe trotting using the name of SJAK while other committed members from so called “small media houses” have never been given tickets and opportunity to go for international assignments.
