Attention KPLC: Residents of Pipeline Need Electricity Back

Jared Othieno, KPLC Acting MD.

Hi El Presidente,

This is a cry of Kware residents, Pipeline.

We have been in black out for the last 16 days.

All these days we’ve been reaching out to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) who have only been giving reference numbers and promising they will work on it.

On Monday this week they came and carried away the transformer and brought a new one on Wednesday and restored power supply.

Yesterday, they came back and wanted to pull down the new transformer claiming that power ‘theft’ in the area is on the rise hence they are making losses.

The mob was so mad at them, almost beating them up, until they chose to surrender.

They were however whisked away without restoring power, the area is still in darkness.

Businesses have closed, insecurity is on the rise, water supply is no more as pumps rely on power we have to buy in 20 litre jerricans, hygiene has deteriorated posing a threat to residents; a potential cholera outbreak.

Why is KPLC behaving stupid?

Why are they punishing innocent people using uncouth means?

Why can’t they get the guys tapping power instead of sending the whole area in blackout?

Na wanaexpect tufungulie watu wa census milango?

Maybe wakuje na generator.

Please expose our cry El Presidente. We have become a banana republic.
