On his Facebook, he has posted a photo of himself and his son, confirming he has a wife and children as alleged in an audio recording with the police after he threatened Ken Mijungu.

Intimidation: Miguna Vehicle Detained By DCI

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok has sacked two members of his cabinet in a reshuffle he said was aimed at enhancing service delivery by improving efficiency.

However, Cnyakundi.com has established that the governor has retained the infrastructure and roads CEC Benson Lokwang who paid him Ksh16 million bribe.

The two CECs who were sacked on Saturday are Finance Executive Robert Lotelengo and his Lands, Energy, Housing and Urban Areas Management counterpart Anthony Apalia.

Mr Nanok re-appointed Ms Jane Ajele (Health and Sanitation) and Charles Lokiyoto (Tourism, Cultures and Natural Resources) who are still the only county executive committee members still in service since 2013.

Others still holding cabinet positions are Jennifer Nawoi (Trade, Gender and Youth Affairs), Patrick Losike (Education, Sports and Social Protection), Chris Aletia (Agriculture, Pastoral Economy and Fisheries) and Benson Lokwang (Infrastructure, Transport and Public Works).

This morning at around 5 am, Al Shabaab terrorist group stormed a military base in Lamu known as Camp Simba and bombed it.

1. There’s no news of how many people have died.

Al-Shabab has maintained a campaign of deadly bomb and gun attacks despite being ejected from their bases in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and other areas years ago.

The group also carries out frequent attacks in neighbouring Kenya, which sent thousands of its troops into Somalia to fight al-Shabab.

Early Sunday morning, Somali’s Al Shabaab militants launched an attack at a military base jointly used by US and Kenya forces in the coastal area of Lamu.

Moments after the attack, Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia said the attack at Camp Simba in Manda island occurred at around 4 to 5 a.m.

“Yes there was an incident in the morning but we have been able to push them away,” he said, “However, we are not sure if there are still remnants within.”

He did not provide any casualty report, only saying “a security operation is underway.”

Photos showing thick black smoke billowing from the camp with a helicopter in the background soon went viral on social media.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, saying they had “successfully stormed the heavily fortified military base and have now taken effective control of part of the base.”

The group said the attack was part of its “Al-Quds (Jerusalem) shall never be Judaized” campaign — a term it first used during an attack on the upscale Dusit hotel complex in Nairobi in January last year that left 21 people dead.

The group said there had been both Kenyan and American casualties, however this could not be immediately verified.

As at 9 a.m, reports said there was active shooting in or around the camp at Manda Bay.

A few minutes to 10 a.m, Kenya military Spokesman Colonel Paul Njuguna confirmed the attack; saying it took place at around 5:30 a.m. Adding that an attempt to breach security at Manda Air Strip was “successfully repulsed”.

Mr. Njuguna also confirmed that bodies of 4 terrorists have so far been found, and that the airstrip is safe.

“Arising from the unsuccessful breach a fire broke out affecting some of the fuel tanks located at the airstrip. The fire has been put under control and standard security procedures are now on-going.”

The attack comes in the aftermath of threats for revenge following the assassination of Iranian top military general Qasem Soleimani, who was taken down by US forces in Iraq, accused of orchestrating vicious attacks targetting US citizens and interests in the Middle East.

Al-Shabaab jihadists have in the past staged several large-scale attacks inside Kenya, in retaliation for Nairobi sending troops into Somalia in 2011 to fight the group, as well as to target foreign interests.

The spate of attacks highlight the group’s resilience and capacity to inflict mass casualties at home and in the region, despite losing control of major urban areas in Somalia.

Far away in Iran, AFP reported that locals were preparing to hold celebrations after Qasem’s burial, with the Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declaring the military general died a Martyr “whose killing must be revenged” terming the US action “an act of war.”

But US president Donald Trump who said he ordered Soleimani’s assassination has denied he was out to start a war “but stop one.”

The new development has raised tensions in the Middle East.

The government spokesman Col (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna insistence that Miguna must have all his papers ‘right and valid’ is the height of mediocrity coming from Jubilee. Did Oguna read the court orders?

“All his papers must be right and valid as per the travel regulations. We are governed by the rule of law,” Oguna said.

Whatever President Uhuru said later on that day was casual but in all sense maybe the man at the top now regrets why he had to treat our general as such. There was no need and it was uncalled for.

Uhuru stated, during the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Charles Rubia, “I have heard that some people are now planning to fly into the country. Let them come because that is their freedom,”

The statement should overrule whatever DCI Kinoti (who yesterday ordered the arrest of Miguna’s car)  and Govt Spokesman Oguna thinks.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) had to last week defend itself on allegations that it had wanted to tax a consignment of Anti-Retrovirals (ARVs) drugs meant to manage the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) forcing the donors to turn back with the cargo and ship it to West Africa. 

Through a statement, KRA termed the news as FAKE and not factual 

‘KRA would like to inform the public that the story running on social media titled “ARVs Meant For Kenyans Shipped To West Africa After KRA Demanded Taxes On Them” is not factual. KRA wishes to clarify that it has not declined to clear any ARV supplies’, KRA posted on their social media pages.

It is now emerging that KRA did refuse entry of the drug consignment into the country.

‘Nyakundi, that story is true. You know how the government agency is full of very corrupt and greedy people, the officers at the coast asked for a bribe, and they were direct about it. This is after the donors refused to pay tax’, said a source privy with the matter.

KRA denied that the story on the drugs donated by the United States government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which landed in the port of Mombasa in October last year.

The drugs with a budget of USD35 million (Ksh3.5 billion) were to benefit at least 900, 000 Kenyans living with HIV/AIDS.

Its should be noted that the cartels working in the donor and Non-Governmental organization sectors dealing in HIV/AIDS have had a rough year seeing their budget cut by the US government on the back of reduced infection numbers.

There’s also the story of KRA officials refusing to clear a batch of books donated for schools and libraries in North Eastern Counties asking the donors to pay tax.

According to a source, the donor became tired of the back and forth and found a clearing and forwarding agent who hauled the books to Congo, where there’s less bullshit.

KRA has become a den of thieves who are well-connected and as such untouchable.

Camp Simba Attack Update: 4 Bodies Recovered As Repulse On Early Morning Attack Continues

KDF have confirmed killing Al- Shabaab Terrorists Commander Abu Hamza al Kinyi 13 Kilometers deep inside the Boni Forest. Al-Kinyi was the Commander of the botched Camp Simba KNB Manda Attack today. He is a Kenyan who joined the terrorists group in 2013.

Eight manda base terrorists attackers have now been killed.

This afternoon, five suspects, thought to be part of or linked to the Lamu military base attack, were arrested soon after Al Shabaab terrorists launched a deadly attack that left aircraft and vehicles destroyed, both for the Kenyan and US forces operating from there.

Kenya Defence Forces said an attempt was made at approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning to breach security at Manda Air Strip and that it had successfully been stopped and the airstrip was safe.

Four terrorist bodies were found by a joint military manhunt staged by the KDF and their American counterparts, but there was no immediate confirmation if they were killed or blew themselves up.

Photos circulated online showed thick black smoke billowing from the airstrip on Sunday morning, in what Col Njuguna said was “fire that broke out affecting some of the fuel tanks located at the airstrip.”

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, saying they had successfully stormed the heavily fortified military base and have now taken effective control of part of the base.

Hours after gunfire died down, photos of what is believed to be the aftermath of today’s incident have now surfaced online.

Multiple social media accounts have shared images of some of the Al-Shabaab militants killed in today’s retaliatory attack lined up at the Magogoni-Naval base in Lamu County.

As of 6 p.m this evening, soldiers had completed the first phase of the operation
with a preliminary assessment report from the team confirming the killing of eight Al- Shabaab terrorists who were in camouflage and the recovery of 2 RPGs, 1 PKM and 4 AK 47s.

Among those killed was Abu Hamza al-Kinyi 13 who was found 13 kilometres deep inside the Boni Forest. He is a Kenyan who acted as the Commander in today’s attack joined the terrorists group in 2013.

A clip of Mumias East Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali physically assaulting a middle-aged man has emerged on social media.

In the video posted by a Twitter user on Sunday evening, the Ruto-allied legislator is seen punching, kicking and slapping the man with the help of a bunch of other guys; presumably his aides.

Tens of thousands of mourners clad in black have filled the streets of Mashhad and Ahvaz to pay their respects to Qassem Soleimani, the country’s most powerful and revered military commander who was assassinated by a US air strike in Iraq.

Soleimani’s remains were flown to the southwestern city of Ahvaz on Sunday, two days after his killing triggered a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

Several others were also killed in Friday’s strike on a convoy at Baghdad airport, including the Iranian-backed Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

In live footage aired on Sunday on Iranian state television, tens of thousands of mourners marched through Ahvaz holding up portraits of Soleimani, seen as a hero for his role in the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s and for spearheading Iran’s Middle East operations as chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’s (IRGC) overseas forces.

The footage showed crowds thronging Mollavi Square with flags in green, white and red – depicting the blood of “martyrs” – men and women weeping as they beat their chests to the sound of chants.

Authorities plan to take Soleimani’s remains to the holy city of Mashhad later on Sunday, as well as Tehran and the holy city of Qom on Monday, for public mourning processions, then to his hometown of Kerman for burial on Tuesday.

The United States has confirmed that three people, including a US service member and two civilians, were killed in an Al-Shabab attack on a military base in Kenya’s Lamu County used by US and Kenyan military personnel.

In an updated press release sent out by US Africa Command a few moments before 11 p.m EAT, they also noted that two other Department of Defense personnel were also wounded in the attack on Camp Simba, but were stable and being evacuated.

“During an attack by al-Shabaab, an al-Qaida group in East Africa, earlier today, one (1) U.S. service member and two (2) Department of Defense contractors were killed at a Kenya Defense Force Military Base in Manda Bay, Kenya.

In addition, two (2) Department of Defense members were wounded. The wounded Americans are currently in stable condition and being evacuated.”

NAIROBI (WDHN) — A Fort Rucker soldier has been counted among the dead in the attack on Manda Bay Airfield Sunday, according to family members.

United States Army Specialist Henry “Mitch” Mayfield, 23, died alongside two American contractors after an attack by terrorists affiliated with al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab, a group based out of Somalia.

Mayfield’s family told NBC 5 in Chicago about the soldier’s death, saying the U.S. Army had reached out to them Sunday afternoon.

According to his mother Carmonetta, he had last told her everything was fine at the base during a Facetime call on New Year’ Day.

Mayfield, a native of Chicago, joined the Army in June 2018 and graduated basic training in October. His Facebook lists his place of work as Fort Rucker as of June 8, 2018 to the present day.

The attack on the airfield, which destroyed several U.S. vehicles and aircraft, is the first attack on U.S. forces in Kenya by al-Shabab, who has taken credit for the attack. Five attackers were killed in the assault.

Manda Bay Airfield is used by both the United States and Kenya at Camp Simba to train personnel to counter terrorist efforts in the region.

While Kenyan security services have shown concern that Iran has been trying to cultivate ties with the terror group, an al-Shabab spokesperson told the Associated Press this attack was unrelated to the tensions caused by the U.S.-Iranian conflict in Iraq.

Furthermore, al-Shabab is a Sunni group and, according to the Associated Press, does not have any known ties to the Shia-majority country or it proxies.

Over the last few days, Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has not been holding back her words when responding to online critics.

The legislator has been in bad books with a section of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) since she shared post-surgery photos following an operation at the Care Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Hospital in India.

Many were of the opinion that that, as an elected Kenyan leader who sits in the Parliamentary Health Committee, she should pursue the improvement of facilities in local hospitals, not seek expensive medical care abroad.

One of such responses was from George Gathecha, who wrote: “You should stop posting this because, how do you think people from slums feel yet they can’t afford Kenyatta National Hospital KNH?”

Replying from India, Passaris told George to man up and do something about it instead of complaining, adding that she “invested” Ksh. 50 million during her election campaign.

The un-honourable respinse drew heavy criticism from other netizens, including Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima alias King Kaka of the ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ hit song who castigated Passaris for being “selfish.”

Evidently angered by Ombima’s remarks, “Mama Taa”, as she’s been politically branded, decided to hit back, and just like in all her other recent tweets, she definitely wasn’t kind with words.

In an attempt to invalidate King Kaka’s remarks, she asked him to “get off his high horse”, reminding the rapper that unlike him, she has “worked” and “served”.

Choosing to be the bigger person, King Kaka gave a calm and composed reply, wishing a quick recovery to Passaris’ “fresh” wounds and promising to pick up the conversation once she is fully recovered.
